Embrace The Grind Part 2

In March I played cash game for one whole week non-stop and I documented my results. This time round I played for 16 sessions straight and counting. I think throughout this stretch I only had 1 day without any poker. I played at least 1 session a day and sometimes two. Unfortunately I am unable to recall some key hands in the process or how I got those results because the first session was over 2 weeks ago. But I think I have found my groove and can sustain the results at this game.

So far I have won 12 out of 16 sessions. One of the losing sessions was my previous post of the "coolest" day of my life. One of my mistakes I felt was being too greedy. I wanted to win $1000+ sessions but in fact if I can consistently make $300-500 per session I can make a really good living. Had I stopped playing every time I made $500 profit, I would have 100% winning rate. The 4 sessions that I lost I was up before sliding down.

Another lesson I have learned is to set a cut loss. If I am winning $300-1000 per session, I should not lose more than that per session otherwise I put myself in a hole that I have to dig out of. It puts a lot of pressure on my following sessions.

Good second week to make decent profit

There was one key session where I was in for $3900. One hand a guy put me all in for my last $700 of the day and I hero called with one pair and clawed back to a manageable -$1700 instead of -$3900.

Honestly I do miss playing tournament poker. I see many of my friends are in Vegas playing in the WSOP I can't help but be jealous. But cash game is going well at the moment I should continue to grind it out. I can occasionally join a tournament here and there but cash games will have to be my bread and butter.

In my first week back to the cash game grind, I was -$4127 but the second week I am +$6279. $2k profit in 2 weeks isn't what I was hoping for, but I think I have learned some important lessons to smooth out my results in the weeks to come. I hope I can continue on this path and be more consistent and disciplined. At the same time I want to commit to doing good things. Everyday on my walk to the casino I pass by a homeless lady and also sometimes some ladies who dig through rubbish for recycle plastics. I gave them some money and also food sometimes. On the table I continue to be a nice guy, every time I go to get water I would bring back 3 bottles and offer it to anyone on the table. I think I have gained respect and am well liked on the tables.
